In 2010-2011, our school got the support from the EDB School-based Curriculum Development Section and embarked a school-based programme in Primary 2. In 2012-2013, the scheme carries forward to Primary 4. The prime aim of it is to design a quality curriculum in writing conducive to effective pupil learning. We take a collaborative approach through a practical stance. The School Development Officer schedules regular on-site collaborative lesson planning meetings with the participating teachers. Teachers explore diversified learning resources based on pupils' needs, abilities and interests. There are regular collaborative lesson planning meetings, lesson observations, internal sharing sessions and post-lesson observation discussion. It enhances horizontal coherence and vertical progression in curriculum development. We believe that this kind of professional guidance can improve existing practices and provoke thought. Over the years, we witness positive changes in the language performance of the pupils. The scheme also nurtures a learning organization culture to facilitate schools’ sustainable development.
